We cordially request the pleasure of your company for the rare delight of a live jazz performance, followed by French wine reception at the Embassy of France for only $15! Sit back and relax to a magical live performance by 3 x Chopin, followed by a complimentary French wine reception to meet the artists as well as ICDC members in attendance. This is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends whether you come by yourself or with friends.

Program
Three performances by leading Polish musicians and composers to celebrate the bicentennial of Frédéric Chopin. A classical recital and jazz improvisations are performed by award-winning pianist Ewa Poblocka and leaders in Polish jazz, Leszek Mozdzer and the Andrzej Jagodzinski Trio.

 About Ewa Poblocka
One of Poland's most distinguished pianists, Ewa Poblocka studied at the Music Academy in Gdansk, and is the holder of top awards from piano competitions in Vercelli, Bordeaux and Warsaw. Ms. Poblocka has performed throughout most of Europe, as well as both North and South America, Singapore, Korea, Japan and Australia, appearing at the Herkules-Saal in Munich, the Musikhalle in Hamburg, the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the Barbican Centre and Wigmore Hall in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, New York's Lincoln Center and Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto.

She has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Bayerisher Rudfunkorchester, Niederosterreichisches Tonkunstlerorchester, Polish National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw, Polish Chamber Orchestra and the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.

Her most recent recordings include Chopin's complete Mazurkas, Fantasia on the Polish Airs Op. 2 with Sinfonia Varsovia under Jacek Kaspszyk for BeArTon; Bach's complete Partitas and Faure's complete Nocturnes for VICTOR JVC. She has also recorded for Deutsche Grammophon.

About Leszek Mozdzer
An outstanding pianist, composer and producer, Leszek Mozdzer is widely considered to be the greatest revelation in Polish jazz of the last decade. He has received numerous awards, including the Krzysztof Komeda prize from the Foundation of Polish Culture, 1st Prize at the International Jazz Improvisation Competition in Katowice, Lodz Music Lover Society’s Artist of the Year, among others.

Mr. Mozdzer has toured all European countries, as well as the USA, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzia, Brazil, Canada, South Korea, Urugway and Chile. He has worked with acclaimed international musicians, including Arthur Blythe, Buster Williams, Billy Harper, Joe Lovano, Pat Metheny and Archie Shepp.

Mozdzer has many recordings and his improvisations on Fryderyk Chopin’s themes have ranked him among the most outstanding individualities and virtuosos of the European jazz.

About the Jagodzinski Jazz Trio
The Jagodzinski Trio's first album “Chopin” was named ‘Best Record’ of 1994 by Jazz Forum Magazine and won the Fryderyk Award (Polish Grammy) as best jazz record of the year. The Jagodzinski Trio has continued to explore jazz interpretations of Chopin. Other recordings include “Chopin - Live at the National Philharmonic” (1997), “Chopin Once More” and “Chopin Metamorphoses” (both 1999). They have been a key influence in launching the Chopin stream in Polish jazz.

Andrzej Jagodzinski (piano)
Pianist, composer and arranger, Andrzej Jagodzinski (founder or the Jagodzinski Trio) received his degrees from the Chopin Conservatory. He was awarded First Prize in the Old Jazz Meeting Zlota Tarka and received the Jazz Artist of the Year from the Polish Phonographic Academy. He has toured throughout most European countries, Australia and the United States. In addition to his work with the Jagodzinski Trio, he has performed with jazz groups that include The Old Timers, String Connection, The Zbigniew Namyslowski Quartet, The Big Warsaw Band, Quintessence, The Jan Ptaszyn Wroblewski Quartet and Jarek Smietana's Polish All Stars.

Adam Cegielski (bass)
Bass player Adam Cegielski graduated from the Chopin Conservatory. He has won prizes in many prestigious European jazz competitions. In 1994, he was ranked 3rd Best Bass Player by the Polish Jazz Forum Magazine and received the Krzysztof Komeda Award. He has been playing with the Jagodzinski Trio for the last 15 years and is devoted not only to jazz but also to classical music and plays with the top-ranked Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra. He also recorded the soundtrack for Kieslowski’s movies “White”
