Event Details We regret to inform that due to circumstances (thunder storms) beyond our control, we have postponed the Great Falls hike that was scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Your safety is of our paramount concern and we didn't want to go ahead with the hike with impending thunderstorms and risk any of our members slipping and falling as some of the rocks along the hiking trail can be extremely slippery when wet. We made this decision in the best interest of your safety and apologize for any inconvenience. Though there is a possibility the weather system may move away we just didn't want to gamble with your safety and felt the hiking trip would be more enjoyable in more favorable weather when the trails are dry. Pursuant to the terms of the rain date policy posted on the event description, your ticket is transferable to attend any future hiking trip to Great Falls (or Rock Creek Park). We have a hiking trip to Great Falls scheduled for Saturday August 7 as well as another hiking trip to Rock Creek Park scheduled for Sunday July 25. We invite you to visit Great Falls Park at the dawn of summer to experience lush green leaves, nature, wild-life, and fresh air. Great falls is a hidden gem of a National Park located just minutes from Washington DC. However once we are there, and surrounded by nature, you'll feel hours away from DC. At Great Falls, the Potomac River plunges seventy-six feet through a deep gorge creating a series of scenic waterfalls. Our hiking trail is built between the Potomac River and the C&O canal with views of canal and the Potomac River visible from various points of the hiking trail. After the hike we will enjoy a relaxing picnic and lunch before heading back home. Please make sure you are in adequate physically condition to take part in this event. Be prepared to hike around rocks and cliffs. Requested Attire Please dress comfortably according to the weather.
